BeeProtX® - What is a barrier cream?
A barrier cream is a skincare product that forms a protective layer on your skin, shielding it from water, chemicals, oils, grease, dirt and everyday wear — while still moisturising and letting your skin breathe underneath.
Unlike an ordinary hand cream, which mainly adds moisture, a good barrier cream does two jobs at once: it protects your hands from what they're exposed to during the day, and it repairs the dryness and cracking that exposure causes.
How does a barrier cream work?
Barrier creams use natural waxes and oils — like beeswax — to create a breathable, water-resistant film over the skin. This film:
- Blocks water, chemicals, oils, grease, acid and dirt from penetrating the skin
- Locks in moisture rather than drawing it out (unlike harsh soaps or "hand cleaners")
- Stays effective through several hand washes, so one application can last most of a working day
